Fade to Grey Wrist Warmers

This week we ran our first workshop from Serendipity Designs at Kraft Work Yarns. I wasn’t sure quite how it would go, but I needn’t have worried, our guests were lovely and the evening flowed along at a nice gentle pace.

Quietly Concentrating

We covered knitting in the round, using small circular knitting needles, and a gentle introduction to colourwork.

Our guests had a range of experience from ‘daily knitter’ to ‘haven’t picked up needles in years’. No one left the workshop feeling out of their depth and our guests went home confident that they could finish their wrist warmers in their own time.

The workshop was a 3 hour workshop that felt like 90 minutes! I wanted to run things at a steady pace, to prove that those first tentative steps into colourwork were absolutely achievable. I’m not a natural born teacher, and knowing that I was in the presence of two retired teachers, three if we’re counting Mr KWY, left me feeling a bit apprehensive. Again, not needed. I delivered the workshop content, and wrist warmers were made.

We had coffee and biscuits. Thanks, as always, goes to Mr KWY for his services to refreshments and nibbles, the Lemon and White Chocolate cookies were delicious.

One of the nicest things about hosting the workshop outside of the shop’s normal opening hours was the fact that our guests could browse the shop exclusively and buy as much yarn as they could carry home. I was on hand to answer questions about the yarn, check the stock room for bulk quantities, and make any recommendations needed. Much like a personal shopper.

The feedback from the ‘after hours shopping’ was incredibly positive.
